Offending command xshow

Upon updating OS 10.13.3 word and reopening HP laser jet M553 I can no longer print, but get the info on otherwise blank page: Offending command xshow.

Re-installing the newest version of the printer driver did not help, nor did any restart. No updates available.

How do I remedy this disrupting situation?

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3), HP laser jet M553

"error: limitcheck - offending command: xshow" I have the same problem with a Ricoh Aficio MP C2050. I tried everything but nothing ... I re-installed the ricoh driver. and deleted all the printers but nothing.

Can someone help me?

Hi,

Here is a good walk-through. The fix was to change the TTRasterizer from type42 to none in the PDD printer file. I don't know why this can cause an issue for OS 10.13.3 yet. Perhaps Apple will catch this as a bug and patch it.

Let me know if this was helpful?

Hi,

I have same issue with Xerox 6505N. Its definitely an OS X issue. I can print no problems the same documents from a windows machine using either PCL or PS driver. I have the latest driver installed on my MacBook Pro and that didn't help. I a rapidly loosing patience with Apple as my iPhone is almost useless and their support just told me to wipe it and restore. Apple pull your finger out ant start writing some decent code. Printing is a basic function and from reading the forums this is affecting a lot of Printers HP, Cannon Xerox etc. I would build a small Windows VM in Vmware fusion if you have it or using OS X Bootcamp. You will be able to print fine then. I'm sacking off Apple as the new MacBook pros require so many dongles that it would look like a spider! And their phones are simply a rip off now.

I'm looking for a decent Intel Laptop and am going to move over to Centos or Redhat. I hope you get your printing sorted. Apple you suck for the cost of your kit you should at least look after your customers better.
