iPhone X screen protector and mic function

Hi All, I just started using my new iPhoneX a few days ago and found, after much trial and error, that the tempered glass screen protector that was highly rated on Amazon, seems to completely block the microphone function. This seemed odd since the mic holes are on the bottom, I believe. But I tried multiple combinations; with and without protector, with and without case, factory reset etc etc and it is clear that the screen protector is the issue.

Has anyone else experienced this and can anyone suggest a screen protector that won't do this?
