IOS 11.2.5 battery drain

I updated to IOS 11.2.5 a couple of days ago and the battery drain is immense. It went down 3% writing this!! Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix? I never had any problems with the previous software, only after updating. All settings have remained unchanged so it’s not them. I can use my phone and watch the % drain away within minutes. I have the iPhone 7. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that since updating to iOS 11.2.5 you're having trouble with your battery draining faster than normal. I know how important it is for your device to stay charged properly, I'd like to help. First I'd recommend reviewing the information here regarding iPhone Battery and Performance

Next, you can use these steps to see how your battery is being consumed as well as Settings you can change to get the most from your battery:

Check battery usage

Go to Settings > Battery.

To see how long each app has been open and running in the background, tap . Under each app, you might see these usage types:

Background Activity means that your battery is used while apps run in the background.

Audio means that apps play audio while running in the background.

No Cell Coverage and Low Signal means that your device is searching for a signal or being used with a low signal.

Backup & Restore indicates that your device has been backing up to iCloud or restoring from an iCloud backup.

Location and Background Location means that your battery was used when tracking your device.

Adjust settings to improve battery life

While viewing your battery usage, you might get a suggestion like Enable Auto-Brightness or Adjust Display Brightness. This is because iOS determined that changing these settings could improve your battery life. You can also see the usage times since the last full charge.

Again: if you would have read this entire thread you would have seen that this behavior ia not an iOS issue.

If your battery indicator is showing a line (this sign “-“) it means you have restarted your phone since last full charge. If you restart the phone the indicator will not show the time usage since last full charge.

Also if your usage time equals standby time it means you have a rogue app / apps that constantly use your phone, thus draining your battery. After an update an app, or apps can crash and constantly sync (for example I had Photos constantly syncing in the background draining my battery like crazy). Use the Battery menu and identify the top apps, disable/reinstall them and I think it should work. It surely did in my case...

Same here

The day before upgrading to 11.2.5 the battery lasted 10 hours normal use. After the upgrade the battery last around 4-5 hours same conditions (same every day). .

How to downgrade??

It would be interesting to see if removing the sim from affected phones slows down the battery drainage.

I am also facing same issue with battery after upgrading to iOS 11.2.5. It goes down by 2-3% in a go. I am not using any app heavily.

Try Samsung S series. Love them and considering a Samsung tablet if Apple doesn’t fix this issue. Ridiculous that I’m losing about 1% battery on my iPad every 3 or 4 minutes since the update.

I turned off iCloud Drive on my iPad with 11.2.2 with 100% charge before going to bed. Woke up this morning to the same 100%! yeah. Finally a solution. Can anyone confirm no drain in 11.2.5?

Interesting, I have been running my iPhone 6s on WiFi only with iCloud enabled and had no battery drain. I removed the sim which cured my battery so mine wasn’t anything to do with iCloud.

Same here. iphone 8 plus. What can they do to fix this. It’s not lasting 4 hours. Yesterday before the update lasted for 2 days

Can you see if you have the iCloud Drive setting turned on WITHIN iCloud on your iPhone? If so and you turn it off, does your battery drain return to normal?

It’s soooo annoying!!! I thought it was my charger at first! I think it’s time to get an android. After spending so much on a phone, you end up with this?!!! So not worth it!
