updated password with aol account and macbook pro won't recognise the new password

I updated my aol password on the aol site and now my macbook pro won't recognise the new password to access my aol email account on Mail. I have tried deleting the account and starting again but it won't let me recreate the account

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

The answer to this problem is that I had recently opted for AOL's two part sign in which includes AOL sending a verification code much like Apple. It appears this causes a confusion with MacMail as the code is via my mobile - once I had cancelled the two part sign in the problem was solved and my AOL account now works perfectly on my new MacBook Pro
