I want to be able to do all of the things to a .pdf that I can do on my MacBook, on my iPad. So far it involves purchasing multiple 3rd party apps. I need to be able save, annotate, merge, and send my files. Why is this not a thing?!? Severely limits anything I can do with this very expensive tablet.

iOS is a sandboxed, simplified, tablet OS with a workflow that is very different from a Mac computer running a full and comprehensive computer OS.

If this is your first experience with using an iPad for any real work and productivity, then you will need to learn how to be productive using iOS’s way of doing things by bouncing data around from app to app to get your desired results.

For comprehensive work on PDF docoments there are full blown apps for PDF production on iOS/iPad.

Here’s my own shortlist of PDF read/write/editing apps.

That’a because the iPad was originally designed to be a portable portal for iTUnes content. Watching movies, listening to music, which evolved into playing games, then came the demand for productivity.

But the iPad will never be as fully functional as a ‘normal’ computer. It is getting better but how it is designed, sandboxing apps and controlling access, even with the addition of a files app, the iPad will never be as functional as a computer.
