You don't buy the battery but pay for the complete service. Apple or an authorized service provider will only replace the battery in exchange for your current battery.


I'd make an appointment at an Apple Store. where they'll run a diagnostic and then place you on a list. This is the way I recommend doing it:


  • Start here: https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair
  • Click on "Start your repair request" (blue button at the bottom).
  • Click on "Battery, Power & Charging".
  • Click on "Battery Replacement".
  • Then click on "Bring in for Repair". You have to select a carrier, but it doesn't really matter.


You then can select any number of different Apple Stores or AASPs. I recommend an Apple Store because you know what the price will be (currently $29). Each AASP may charge its own labor rate, although quite a few are matching Apple's flat $29 rate.
