if you can use a new HD to store data then anything that is not the OS or an Application I would suggest using off that drive. Drives are very inexpensive and if yours is 8 years old it's living on borrowed time.

Ideally I would suggest replacing the rotational drive in your Mac with an SSD that would accommodate your OS and your applications and have an equal or larger number of free space when you finished (~256/512GB). Your data could be moved to a rotational external hard drive (1/2 TB) and a 3rd drive double the size of the external (2/4TB)

if you currently have a 1TB TM drive I would get a 2/4TB drive, migrate your current backup to that and use the older 1TB drive as your data drive. If it fails you have all your data on a newer HD. The SSD for system and apps only would breathe new life into that system as far as response, it would be faster than when you bought it.

check your Wacom driver versions, last time I had to deal with them the Wacom support is through Facebook, with no phone number. I would uninstall the drivers using the developers directions to do so on their website (not drag it into the trash if that's what they are asking)

Then try CC without the Wacom installed. If problems are no longer present your issue may be the Wacom drivers.

if you have not done so already update CC to 2018. If it makes you feel a little less unique with this issue the graphic artists I support have all reported the CC is slower than CS and these are on significantly powerful iMacs (i7 Quad, 16GB RAM)

good catch. Adobe CC is very aggressive with swap files so the 50GB free could be getting clobbered when CC is trying to write swap files. Regardless of how much RAM you have CC will start caching to disk and need space to work so as advised you need another place to keep the files you don't need every day and free up a good portion of space.

Hello, thank you all for your support I will try that tomorrow at work.

When you say free up space, how much should I free up ? 50 Go ?

I will post a report after deleting wacom completely and after freeing up space.

Is it possible that because the mac is old (2010), the hardware became used and don't work like before ? if yes how can we see it, is there an app ?

Thanks again.

So what I did was :

Buy a external SSD and connect it to my iMac via 2.0 USB cable. My iMac do not have 3.0 usb but has firewire, so the best option would have been to buy a ssd hd who has firewire support (since it's faster than usb 2.0) but didn't have time to do so. I installed a fresh copy of Mac OS X Yosemite. I created a bootable USB drive with the installation of Yosemite, but it wouldn't let me install it because it's an outdated OS. So I opened the Terminal (in the recovery OS, "Install OS X Yosemite" I just created) and typed "date 0101045314", so I could install Yosemite on the 500 go SSD without errors. Because this terminal command allows you to set an older date for your iMac, which allows you to install Yosemite in 2018. And then I set my startup disk as the SSD and abracadabra, the iMac is running faster than ever !
