How do I create a title page for slide show.

Advice online seems to refer to iPhoto and it does not work on photos. Tried various permutations but failed. Sure it must be simple!

In Photos you can edit the title text of the slideshow. Photos creates automatically a title slide. It contains just the text with the name of the slideshow. You can enter a different name by typing into the text field of the title slide.

If you want a differently formatted title, create a photo with the title you want to show and import it as a photo to Photos, then add this photo as the first slide to your slideshow. You could create this title photo as a slide in Keynote, for example. Or use iMovie to create a video clip with an animated title and import this video clip to Photos. add it as the first item to your slideshow.

The title slide is shown in the film strip with the thumbnails as a "T" on a black background. If you click the "T", you will see the title on top of the slide. Click into the text you are seeing on the slide in the viewer.

You can add more text slides, if you select the next photo in the film strip and click the ➕ button at the end of the film strip to add another text slide.

I have tried creating a title page in both pages and Keynote but cannot import into photos.

You have to export the keynote slide as an image file. Create a Keynote presentation with just one slide, then use "File > Export to > Images" to write image files to your Desktop. Imort these image files to Photos and add them to the slideshow.

Or do it the other way round. Export your slideshow as a video, then import it to iMovie to add a title and credits in iMovie.
