Why Can't I Download/Install Philips Hue App on iPhone X?
I have an iPhone X, I'm on iOS 11.2.1--soon after receiving my iPhone X in November, I had to change my iTunes ID completely due to some security issues (my Apple ID remained the same).
Since doing so I've had no trouble downloading any of the apps I had previously with my new ID EXCEPT the official PHILIPS HUE app.
The Philips Hue app is a free app, and it is critical to have (even if you have other Hue-friendly 3rd party apps) if you have Philips bulbs/lighting set-up in your home, as Philips bridge updates etc. take place through use of the app.
With my old ID I had it successfully downloaded and installed on my phone.
Since I switched to my new ID, every time I try to download the app this is what happens:
I select "Get"
Then "Install"
I sign-in with my new ID
It says "Processing", then "Done" with the blue check mark above it
The blue "Get" link by the App icon in store turns into a grey circle...
And then the grey circle just turns back into a blue "Get" link
EVERY TIME.
I don't get any sort of "Error" message, it just fails to install the app and the progress circle turns back into a "Get" link.
So far, I've tried logging in and out of iTunes in Settings. I've tried downloading/installing on a different wi-fi network and I've tried downloading/installing the app using cellular data. I also signed out of iTunes and tried a forced reboot and then signed in again. Nothing has worked.
I've had an iPhone since 2007 and never experienced this particular problem. I know the app is able to be download from the appstore by other users because I've checked in various forums.
Does anyone know why this would be happening with this one particular app and what I might be able to try to fix the problem? As I mentioned, I would just resign to using the 3rd party apps for Hue control except that I've found that the official Hue app is important to have for bridge updates among other things.
My payment info is all up to date and I've had no problems downloading other apps, though, again, this app is free, so I can't for the life of me figure out what is going on.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions and feedback if anyone else has experienced this with the Hue app or any other app.
