So! After being in contact with Apple for a majority of my day yesterday, I actually got it back to normal! What they told me to do was back up your phone and then using the latest version of iTunes restore it and then once it's restored, you can restore from back up whether it's through iTunes or iCloud and then it should be fixed!!

Hello seymourmelb,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

I understand from your post that after updating your iPhone 6 to iOS 11.2.5 that you can no longer play music because the Music app crashes when you open it as does the Settings app. The following article has some steps which may help to resolve this issue:

If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open - Apple Support

Best Regards.

As an update, apart from being unable to use the Music App, my device is running very hot. I used the Console to capture log messages from the iPhone the following error seems to be happening every 10 milliseconds (!!) or so.

medialibraryd (libsqlite3.dylib)

misuse at line 83399 of [2b0954060f]

I cannot assure these two events are connected, but it seems likely. If any other person is having the same crashes for Music app and maybe the same errors in the console maybe this can lead the devs at Apple to the right direction to fix this.

Hello Sterling,

I don't mean to be rude but this is not helpful at all. My phone automatically updated to 11.2.5 last night and ever since then I can't use the search function within Apple Music without the app immediately crashing. And yes, I have force quit the app and restarted my phone several times. This really is an unacceptable bug and if it continues for another day I am going to permanently switch to Spotify.

I’ve had the same problem within my iPhone 5S. It won’t open the app, and I’ve force closed the app and restarted my phone and deleted the app and reinstalled numerous times. I’m really getting frustrated now, and im considering getting a new phone because of it. I have a phone for 3 things: texting, calling and music. I may as well get a different phone seeing as it’ll be the same elsewhere

I'm having the same issue with my brand new iPhone 8 plus and iPad Pro. I've been trying to contact Apple for days now and the one time I was getting somewhere the Tech Support Advisor I was speaking to, hung up on me. I've tried force quitting the app, restarting my phone, deleting the app and reinstalling it, basically everything to no avail. I didn't update my iPad yet so it's still at 11.2.2

There’s definitely something seriously wrong with 11.2.5 and the music app. I had a similar problem when I was trying to download all music in a rather large playlist. The app suddenly crashed and I couldn’t get it back open. Force closing the app and restarting phone didn’t help. And it took the tv app out with it! And like yourselves the settings/about section was crashing. Utterly horrified I took, the draconian measure of resetting the phone and although I did restore from an iCloud backup (not prepared to lose all my data in my many apps) it took hours and hours to get back to where I was. But the problem happened again in the music app when trying to re download music. twice it occurred but luckily restarting the phone restored its functionality on these occasions. I cannot believe the bug that exists here and the fact it crippled not onlay the music app but also takes the tv app out with it. The iPhone is also not synchronising data changes made on the other devices such as new playlists being created or song rating changes. It can push changes from the iPhone but doesn’t seem to receive them.

we tried my wife’s iPhone and whilst we were bot brave enough to download lots of music for fear of crippling her phone too. We observed changes were not being pushed to her iPhone icloud music library. We created a couple test playlists on her iPad and changed the rating on a couple of songs. Neither of which got pushed to her iPhone. The onlay time the data got pushed was when we created a test playlist on her iPhone which whilst pushing data to her iPad (successfully) then received the playlists earlier created on the iPad. But this is a lame workaround that to get library changes pushed to the iPhone you have to prompt a change on it first. If that makes sense.

seems to be affecting iPhone only as this far my iPad, Mac, pc, Apple TV seem immune to the problem. Clearly a major issue here, is 11.2.5 to blame or are servers an issue here. This is where the pace of change is frustrating as core functions of the iPhone are broken or hampered in updates.
