Apple servers not updating new Google password

I recently changed my Google password, evrything works ok except I can no longer send or receive emails on my MacMail. I was told that the Apple servers are not updating my new password because of having an older MacBook.

Yesterday I was asked to provide a new Google password. I generated a new password and now I do not receive emails via Google. How do I resolve this issue? For an unknown reason I was asked to provide Google with a new password yesterday using my iMac. Since then I have not received or been able to send email.
