Just started getting this Stags.bluekai.com pop up when trying to use Ebay
Anyone able to suggest a solution?

This is actually not a malware or adware issue. This problem is, unfortunately, normal with Mac OS X 10.9.
Recently, 10.9 systems began to have problems verifying certificates for certain sites. The bluekai.com sites, as well as the Oracle site (who owns bluekai.com), are among the affected sites.
I am not clear at this point what the cause of the problem is, but I have been able to confirm this behavior on a freshly-installed, clean 10.9 system.
Unfortunately, there are only two options available to you. One is to upgrade or downgrade your system. Mac OS X 10.10 and higher do not suffer from this problem, and strangely, for whatever reason, Mac OS X 10.8 is also not affected.
The other option is to stop using Safari and switch to Chrome or Firefox.
Note that Avast would only solve this problem because Avast, in essence, performs a man-in-the-middle attack on your system by installing their own root certificate as a means to decrypt and route all encrypted SSL (https) traffic through their software. This essentially short-circuits the ability of the browser to warn you of certificate issues, covering up the issue without fixing it. This also presents a serious security vulnerability, since A) Avast is intercepting all your encrypted network traffic, and B) Avast is preventing you from seeing normal warnings that would show up if, for example, a site's certificate had been revoked due to bad behavior.
I've seriously considered it. The way Apple has been acting since Cook took the reins, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. They've lost their focus.... and show nothing but disdain for long-time Apple users. (btw, I couldn't even find your comment "helpful", StarEv. SMH.
After a blissful 2 months of Avast preventing the stags.bluekai.com security notice, it's back. I have followed other instructions for elimination, but the instructions just don't line up with my Mac's configuration. As I have High Sierra on a new iMac, and it runs the programs I use the most, I think (hope) I will not have issues with the update.

This is very interesting. I am having the issue on my my mac. I have mavericks 10.9. I do not want to upgrade because my mac only has 8 gb of ram and only a 1.4ghz i5. I switched to firebox because it still receives updates for my system but I am having the blukai pop up in Firefox as well. It seems to happen at random on any website I go to.
Update on this issue: now Safari gets pop up for lots of websites when I try to access - "cannot verify website xxx" this is always a totally unrelated site, nothing to do with what I'm accessing.
Firefox does not get this problem at all. It seems no one has found a solution that is reliable. Any new ideas out there?

For some reason Avast was blocking my incoming email. I turned off the "mail shield" and everything has been working normally. I did not experience my computer slowing down after installing Avast.
I use apple mail. Mail Shield is part of the Avast application. You will not find it unless you have installed Avast. It's function is to scan incoming mail for potential threats.
