Today I received an email from Apple saying that my Apple ID has been locked for security reasons. It wanted me to click to verify my identity. Someome tried signing in from a different IP address. I didn't click on that link. I ended up opening my internet browser and logged into Apple's site. My ID was not locked. I was able to log in to my account.

It wasn't from Apple, it was a phishing email - you could forward it to Apple : reportphishing@apple.com , and then delete it.
