my mac won’t let me sign in to facetime or i message

my mac won’t let me sign into facetime or messages everytime i try to use my apple id and sign in it says an error occurred try again and i went on apples website and it gave me a list of things i could do and i tried all of them and it’s still not letting me sign in please help
