why can’t i log into my facetime and imessage?

i just got a new macbook air and i tried logging into my facetime and imessage using my apple id and for messages it won’t let me log in and for facetime it says there is an error and to try again. i tried resetting my apple id password but nothing seems to be working.

Cannot sign into Facetime, Cannot sign into Facetime or iMessage on new 2018 MacBook Air I have verified Apple ID and Password are correct. I cannot sign into iMessage and FaceTime. I have reset the memory. No luck.

please try If you can't sign in to your iMessage account or FaceTime on your Mac - Apple Support

If you still can't sign in you may want to contact Apple Support
