Apple Store said Verizon replacement iPhone 6 plus did not have Apple parts and wouldn’t repair so why does Apple allow replacement phone to use counterfeit parts?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 11.2.5

Verizon replaced your phone, not Apple. Verizon provided you a refurbished phone that was refurbished by Verizon, not Apple.

Apple is not required to repair a phone that has non-Apple parts, because that violated the warranty. Talk to Verizon about getting the phone repaired or replaced. Apple is not involved in this transaction.

Asurion is one of several insurance companies that does business with Verizon. Their business model has you pay a deductible and they will overnight you a refurbished phone of comparable model and color.

They do use third party parts to rebuild the phones in their Nashville facility, and they offer a warranty on the replacement phone. If you have received the phone recently from Asurion, call them for a warranty repair. Their phone number is 1-888-881-2622.

If you had insurance it probably was not from Verizon and the replacement phone didn't come from Verizon it came from the insurance company. They are not counterfeit phones but they use 3rd party parts to refurbish them. It is not fraudulent you just need to read the insurance policy before you buy it.

“No business is perfect”? Really....there is something called fraud punishable by law. Businesses are sued everyday because of fraud. I’m sure it’s written in ”the small print” that is unreadable that they can switch the product on you. I’ll know better next time. Hopefully many Verizon customers will read this. And Apple can’t work on Apple products without certifiable Apple parts So I’m sure their replacements wouldn't have fraudulent parts. Step into an Apple store and ask them just as we just discovered. Had to go to Verizon to get replaced.

So we actually shouldn’t purchase phones from a carrier only from Apple. Never gave it a thought. Will know better next time. Shame Verizon doesn't tell us that. So when we get a Verizon replacement, it will a counterfeit iPhone. Amazing since we had insurance for a replacement but didn’t know it wouldn’t be an actual Apple IPhone. Sounds a little fraudulent.....

You can't sue for fraud, that is a criminal offense.

If I am not mistaken, and we have someone here who can check me on this, the insurance that is offered at Verizon is through Assurion (same as at AT&T). There policy is not really in fine print and is quite readable but I'm not really a fan of the company and have never used their insurance since my battle with them. So you don't need to warn Verizon customers you need to warn anyone who purchased insurance through Assurion. If you purchased their policy and did not read it that is on you. I read mine and still had to battle them over a replacement of a Palm Trēo. Finally won the battle.

What is it we discovered that we are asking at Apple? If it is the fact that they won't work on phones that have 3rd party parts then the long term users here have known that for some time.

Legally having non-Apple parts doesn't violate any warranty or service plan in the United States (see the Magnuson Moss Warranty Improvement Act) - provided those parts or the assembly doesn't damage anything and Apple has no responsibility should those non-Apple parts malfunction. The language is rather weasely (I included the relevant parts) in the US warranty for iOS devices, but it's written by lawyers.

Apple One (1) Year Limited Warranty

This Warranty does not apply:

(c) to damage caused by use with a third party component or product that does not meet the Apple Product’s specifications (Apple Product specifications are available at www.apple.com under the technical specifications for each product and also available in stores);

(e) to damage caused by operating the Apple Product outside Apple’s published guidelines;

(f) to damage caused by service (including upgrades and expansions) performed by anyone who is not a representative of Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider (“AASP”);

There are some caveats. Obviously in this case Apple bears no responsibility for a camera that neither they nor their authorized representatives placed in a phone. Also - these rules/laws only apply to warranties or extended service plans. Once your warranty or AppleCare expires, Apple has no legal requirement to service a product that they feel has been improperly altered.
