Hi thanks, But however I turned my computer back on and safari was still open. I went to force quit and my screen went dark. It’s now not responding. I held down the off button. But have no way of telling if my computer shut off.

Try starting up apr Mac in Safe Mode:

If that works you can install and run Malwarebytes while in Safe Mode.
