Folder icon doesn't change

Hello all,

After a new system install (10.11.6) i have a lot off issues.

When i try to change the icon of a folder it won't be remembered, not with a copy/past on the info window neither with "Image2Icon", but when i change the icon of an application or dmg it is changed and stays changed.

A restart doesn't help, quit the finder doesn't help either.

When i unpack a zipped file (or so) the folder doesn't show up, looks like the finder window doesn't refreshes it self.

An other problem i encountered, the column width in list view jumps back to the standard width each time a go back to the previous window.

Dragging the divider with the alt key doesn't work on El Captain, double clicking the divider changes the width to the largest filename, but then again when i go back the width is back to standard. (Grrrr)

The system is terribly slow, opening a dmg takes ages to show up, opening a folder....? i can go shopping, making coffee an take a nap and then hopefully it's build up (if the finder hasn't quit it self)

With the previous system i ran, i could drag an application in the dock and the icon showed up, now i get a blank icon.

When i drag a folder in the dock it shows but when i click it it won't open, clicking it, it lights up for a brief moment and then.... nothing, although the right click shows "options" and "open..."

Running Etrecheck i tells me that the performances are good.

EtreCheck version: 3.4.6 (460)

Report generated 2018-02-05 00:06:08

Download EtreCheck from https://etrecheck.com

Runtime: 4:21

Performance: Good

Can somebody help me out with this?, i don't know what to do anymore, and google gives me 1.000.000 answers but not the one i need.

Thank you so far.

I think i found the solution.

It was a permission issue. (i hope)

At first i tried BatchMod, but that didn't do the trick.

Then i opened the info on the (problem) disk, added "admin" to it and set the permission to all the enclosed folder.

After ages the progress bar was gone, and (for) now i can change an icon and that keeps that way (for now, haven't restarted yet)

Now the reason for my late response:

Yesterday i ran Disc Utility on the (problem) disc, and of course i got an error that the disc coudn't be repaired with discutility.

And there it was, Disc Utility had f*cked up my disc so badly that i couldn't repair it (anymore at that time) (ooops)

After a good deep think i tried Disc Warrior 5.0, but it gave me the same answer: can repair the disc, error this, error that etc. (grr)

I rebooted in save modus and tried it again with Disc Warrior, same result again.

Then i tried TechTool Pro, same result (cry)

I rebooted again normally and ran Disc Warrior 5.0 again, and then it took ages controlling en verifying every file on the disc.

I had no good hope, but suddenly i said: disc repaired.

NO!!, would it be? and after some other stuf Disc Warrior was doing, the disc was mounted, save and well with all the files intact.

So even now with a bulk copy/past on multiple folders i can change it, and it stays that way (for now).

When i decompress a file, the compressed file can be removed automatically. (that also was an issue)

I now realize that buying Disc Warrior 5 was undoubtedly worth my money.

$120,= is cheaper then a new disc (and getting the possibly lost data back)

I learned my lesson, and bought another disc and backed up the whole bunch.

Thanks for thinking with me.
