Photos App is Missing!

What version of macOS were you running before you wiped the drive and re-installed....?

10.9.5 only had iPhoto, if you upgrade up to El Capitan you should get Photos back.

If you want to stay on 10.9.5, you maybe able to get iPhotos from your Purchased section of the Mac App Store. Problem is, your photos may no longer work properly in iPhoto if you were using and storing them in iCloud with Photos.

Did you look in the Applications folder? The Dock is not where apps reside, the Dock is an alias or shortcuts to apps. When you find the App in the Applications folder, please drag it to the Dock. The Photos app is also part of Mac OS, so it's almost impossible that it is not included in a Mac OS installation.

Congratulations, if you haven't already, the first time you launch it Photos should ask if you will be importing your old iPhoto library, select Yes and let it do it's work. My apologies on my initial post, I had forgotten the Photo's apps had not been released until Yosemite, that was several releases ago for me. 🙂

FWIW, Photos wasn't released until OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite so it was never included in 10.9.5.

That is because iPhotos was carried over and updated from the original OS X install.

Yes that should bring in Photos, but you will most likely need to take a break while Photos rebuilds your library from Backup or iCloud.
