I keep getting message that iPad can not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. What do I do?

If your IPad is an IPad 2 model with cellular, try, temporarily, taking out the old SIM card out of the SIM card tray.
Sometimes, although I think it is pretty rare, the Activation server is temporariy unavailable. I just checked Apple Services and nothing is down in the U.S.
