I have a problem with the Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.2 updates. They screw up my McAfee total protection security program. What can I do?

I recently installed the McAfee Total Protection security program on my Apple devices. The last time I installed a Mac Sierra OS update on my Mac desktop, my McAfee security no longer worked. A rep had to delete every trace and then reinstall the McAfee program because the Sierra update messed up the McAfee security program.

How can I install Sierra updates on my Mac desktop without interfering with McAfee?

Thanks much.

A Sierra update messed up the McAfee security program? It seems it's not very good at protecting itself if it allowed you to update macOS. I wonder how good it is at protecting other things.

What can I do?

Rule 1 of Macs is don't install junk. Uninstall "McAfee" in strict accordance with its instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, ever again.

FWIW, anti-virus programs (not just Mcafee), cause nothing but problems on Macs including decreased performance, reporting false positives, quarantining needed files etc. The only thing one has to think about is adware/malware which can be avoided by not downloading and installing questionable software from questionable sites.

No one that has experience with macOS would install any anti-virus program.
