MacBook Air Contacts will not sync with iPhone 8 or i Cloud

I have a MacBook Air (OS 10.13.2) and an iPhone 8 (iOS 11.2.5) and have successfully synced all my contacts between them and on iCloud for some time now,

In the last few weeks or so, I am finding that any new contact info entered on my MacBook Air does not appear on iCloud or my iPhone.

New contact info entered on my iPhone does not appear on my MacBook Air. My MacBook Air is apparently not syncing with iCloud? I hope I've made this clear?

To tabulate these comments:

Deviceinfo Entered in MacBook info Entered in iPhone
iPhone 8Does Not appearAppears
MacBook AirAppearsDoes Not Appear

I have read Community comments, tried checking and unchecking Contacts on both devices without success.

I"m sure I'm overlooking something. Can anyone assist?

Well, somehow, my passwords got all fouled up, not to mention my directories on my Mac. Luckily, I restored a back up which brought me back to my original condition.

After many hours of laborious attempts, I contacted Apple Support. Don, my Technician, then took me through about an hour's worth of manipulations, sign ons, reboots, etc. which did solve my problem beautifully.

I highly recommend Apple Support to solve this issue as the process is quite convoluted.

Thanks for your help, Eric.
