Small wrist big watch!

My wife has a 12cm wrist but she likes the 42mm watch. Will she be able to tighten the strap or set the watch up so she can have the HR monitor and other sensor work accurately?

All bands that are currently available to buy from Apple are detailed here (for the US, for example), with size details provided on their respective product pages:

Stated wrist sizes relate to the wrist circumference that the combination of band + case is designed to fit.

No bands for a 42mm Apple Watch are currently described as being suitable for fitting a 120mm / 12cm wrist.

Potentially, yes.

If possible, I suggest that you consider visiting an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorised Reseller for assistance with viewing and trying on different models and bands, for the best fit.

So if I buy her the 42 mm watch she will not be able to fully utilize the watch's heart rate sensors and other monitors since it will be too loose on her wrist?
