Is the iPhone X more scratch resistant than the original 5?

It seems to me that most people get a screen protector of some sort for their iPhone X. My iPhone 5, never had a screen protector and I did not get one scratch on it in five years (not even a tiny one). However, I did use a pouch type case, so the screen would never go bare into my pocket. Plus, I had the official Apple leather case. I have the same setup with my iPhone X. Is the iPhone X more or less scratch resistant then the original 5?

Also, do screen protectors remove the oleophobic coating? I have read other threads and there does not really seem to be a solid answer. Some have said that the alcohol that is used to prep the screen could strip it off. Some also say it depends on how many times one would put it on and off (degrading it with each application). I also think it takes away from the experience having that extra edge on the screen, especially since now we have to swipe from the bottom.

Thanks for your time, it is very much appreciated!

I did some research on this, and according to the YouTube Chanel "JerryRigEverything", theiPhone SE scratch's at a 6 on the Mohs Hardness Scale and gets very deep at a 7. I assume the iPhone SE screen is the same as the original 5.

The iPhone X starts scratching at 6, but at 7 it was not as deep. So I would say that iPhone X has the same if not a little bit better scratch resistance than the original 5.
