How can I go to a previous icloud backup?

I accidentally permanently deleted my photos off of my camera roll and I have a backup saved from before I deleted the photos. I’m not sure how to go back to a previous backup. Help?

If you were syncing iCloud Photo Library, the photos wouldn't be included in your backup. Check the Photos app and at iCloud.com/Photos for a Recently Deleted album.

If you weren't syncing photos using iCloud, restore fromm your backup.

Yes, I deleted my photos from my camera roll on my iOS device and also deleted them from the Recently Deleted album as well. Correct, I am talking about an iOS device, not iCloud.com. I am referring to a backup of my iOS device to iCloud and restoring my device to that backup.

OK, so in order to find out if you have a backup you can restore from, you would need to erase your device via Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Once you see the "Hello" screen, follow the prompts to restore your device to the iCloud backup. Sign into Wifi and your iCloud account, and when you are asked choose Restore from iCloud backup. The next screen should give you the option to see older backups for your iCloud account near the bottom of the screen, if more than the last one is available:

And, on your last post you stated: "I know my photos can still be recovered because I used a website and signed into my iTunes account. It restored all my photos but in order to transfer it onto my phone, I would have to pay $50."

Are you indicating that you went to a website that told you they could recover your photos, and you provided your iTunes/Apple ID and password in order to get those photos restored? If so, you need to change your password immediately. You have exposed your account to would-be hackers. You should never provide your Apple ID and password to any site except Apple login sites.

OK, need some clarification.

When you indicate that you accidentally permanently deleted your photos from your Camera Roll, do you mean you deleted them from the Camera Roll album on your iOS device, and then also deleted them from the Recently Deleted album as well?

And just to be clear, you are talking about an iOS device, not iCloud.com, correct?

Also, when you are asking about an iCloud backup, you are referring to a backup of that iOS device to iCloud, and restoring your device to that backup, correct?

It says that iCloud.com/Photos doesn’t exist. I permanently deleted my photos by deleting it from my camera roll and deleting it from the Recently Delted album. My last back up was from the 5th of February. I have a previous backup from the 2nd of February and that was before i permanently deleted my photos. I know my photos can still be recovered because I used a website and signed into my iTunes account. It restored all my photos but in order to transfer it onto my phone, I would have to pay $50.

In order to reset my device, I need a Restrictions Code. I don’t remember what I put in for the code but I had 21 failed attempts. Do you know what I can do?

I keep a Restrictions Passcode on my device for testing purposes, and I have never been asked for the code when I am erasing the device. What is the exact message you are getting, and at what point in the process are you getting it?

I figured out my Restrictions code. I erased all my content and settings. When I chose to recover from iCloud backup, it only showed my backups from February 15 and 16, even when I pressed Show All Backups. Earlier in the month, it showed I had a backup from February 2nd, when I had all my photos. I have no idea how to go back to that previous backup, help?

Well, if you only see those two even when you tap on Show All Backups, then that means that there are no other backups to retrieve. You will only have as many backups as you have space for on iCloud. It's unfortunate that you were still doing backups after you encountered the issue.

At this point, I'm afraid that the photos are gone if you have never imported them to your computer, and if you only have backups in iCloud from after you deleted the photos permanently.

Sorry 😟

No, sorry, but a backup that contains photos would be much larger than 486MB. You need to go to Settings>your name>iCloud>Manage Storage>Backup, then tap on your device if you are backing up more than one device to your iCloud.

There you will see the Backup Size and the Next Backup Size with a list of all of the info you have selected to back up. Do you see Photos checked there?

You can also see the relative amount of space the backups are taking by looking at the graphic on on the Manage Storage page.
