I have followed the directions after getting "support.apple.com/ipad/restore" message on my iPad mini. Connected to my computer and I still get the same message. Please advise

- If you don't see a restore error, but still see the Connect to iTunes screen, contact Apple Support.
- If you can't force a restart because one of your buttons is broken or stuck, contact Apple Support.
I have tried step 1 of this method several times. When iPad is hooked up to my computer, I still get the same message after holding the home and power buttons down until the apple logo appears. I do not get the message that there is a problem with the OS. Can't get past step 1.
