My computer is froze while upgrading to high sierra?
MacBook Air
I installed it on a Firewire drive and thought it frozen also. Used USB boot with 10.12 installer on. Late 2009 iMac, 11,1
There is no indication of anything happening, apparently stuck at 43 minutes for ages. Screen went blank and space bar evoked nasty sound warnings.
[Keyboard now delayed 10 secs?? Changed to Safari from Chrome now working, Changed back to BT keyboard, OK?]
After noise no further indication, no internal disc noise.
Powered-off and waited a few minutes. On repower installation still functioning, 43 minutes install again. I left things alone & after 1 hour & after several black-screen reboots, no chime, it installed.
Had a look around and very slow. (FW-drive) BB-of-death very apparent.
Downloaded 10.3 High Sierra, saved to another disc then upgraded. Another 43 minutes shown.
Upgraded to 10.3.3 plus other install upgrades.
Looked around for a few days then Migrated my working SSD with 10.6.8 OS, @ 45 minutes.
Everything migrated, even things like Entourage I'd forgotten about to replace Eudora was working.
[Note: 1PW 3 broke - couldn't find Vault. Reinstalled Dropbox and gained access to my Account. Removed my machine from Dropbox Account, Transferred Vault from old Dropbox Folder to new one, opened 1PW3 and selected Vault, 1PW3 worked.]
Cleaned-up incompatible Apps/data using Appzapper and tried out a few antivirus Apps settling on Sophos Home [savosx_he_r.zip] (Beware: not the "Cloud" version.]
Used CCC5 to clone FW HS to internal (7200 not SSD) and rebooted.
Been using for several days and quite reasonable.
Will be cloning to SSD to find out if the OWC Mercury Electra 3G SSD default is APFS as it's HFS+GUID at present and hope speed as before.
NOTED PROBLEMS:
1. On vids cannot access volume in task-bar. Cursor vanishes.
2. Wakeup from sleep only functions on space-bar, moving mouse has no effect.
3. Dragthing 5.9.17 won't launch Applications Dock, Dock put in startup-items fixes.
4. View Path a pain, selecting it not universal, needs selection on every pane.
