Phone says I don't have enough space on it to do a backup to ICloud even though I have enough space in ICLOUD, just not phone.

It's catch 22.

Until I get space on phone I can't back up, and until I back up to iCloud I can't get space!!!!

angela1234,

See below:

About storage on your device and in iCloud

How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

The first step is to free up some storage on your local phone:

Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Scroll down and it will then show the apps that are using your storage listed in order of usage.

Then focus on the apps with the most storage and delete data as appropriate. Large videos and podcasts that take up a lot of storage, can often times be deleted because you can usually download them again if you want view them.

Note: deleted photos/videos are not necessarily deleted from the phone. You may have to go to Photos > Albums > Recently Deleted and delete them from there to truly free up storage.

Then restart your phone.

When local storage is freed up, you can concentrate on iCloud storage:

To control iCloud storage go to Settings > Apple-ID-your-name > iCloud and scroll down to see a list of APPS USING ICLOUD and make any appropriate changes. Note: not everything on your phone needs to be in iCloud. You only need critical items that you would want to recover in the event of failure.

Good luck.
