Windows 10 - could not locate the macOS boot volume

I recently installed windows 10 via bootcamp, but am getting the error "could not locate the macOS boot volume" when using the Bootcamp tray icon to restart my MacBook into macOS. I'm able to use the option key during boot to select startup OS, and both windows and macOS work.

The AppleOSSMgr service is running as expected.

At a loss of what else to try, any help greatly appreciated!

This is expected behavior on High Sierra, because the version of Bootcamp.exe you have does not properly support APFS volumes. If you do not have APFS volumes, then your issue should be diagnosed further.
