OS X 10.8.5 calendar on dock sync problem

Hi all,

I just did a clean reinstall of Mountain Lion, 10.8.5. The reason I did it is because the calendar on the dock either takes about 35 seconds to sync and show the correct date after startup, or is stuck on July 17 sometimes otherwise, and I have to restart. Last night, I did the reinstall, and from booting it last night, it showed the correct date in 3 seconds from startup. I thought my problem was finished, but from turning it on today it is back to waiting about 35 seconds to display the current date. I am using a 2012 13 inch Macbook Pro, with 16gb of ram. I have also tried clearing the calendar caches, but with no luck. Is this just normal, since it's kind of an old machine? On other machines I've used the date comes up almost immediately. Please help!!!

Thank you!

Thanks Eric! I already solved it, figured out why the next day it was screwed up again. It's from some updates that I think corrupted the calendar. The night I first fixed it, I installed some updates before going to bed, (Safari, iTunes, etc.) and I figured out one was the culprit, so when they came up again after my second reinstall, I hid them, and the calendar has been working for about 2 days now, fine. So, I really hope this problem is gone for good! But thanks for getting back to me!

Thanks again,

Ian

Try doing a Dock restart using the following Terminal command:

killall Dock

Log out/in and test. If that doesn’t work, you need to look in your user Library/Application Support/Dock for the .db. Use the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/Library/Application Support/Dock. Move the .db to your desktop.

Then try a dock reset.

Applications/Utilities/Terminal enter the command

killall Dock

Log out/in test. If it works okay, delete the .db from the desktop.

If the Dock is the same, return the .db to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
