Setup failed -6722

Unboxed my HomePod, powered it up and heard the chime.

I then eensured two factor authentication, iCloud Keychain and Bluetooth were enabled on my iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 11.2.5. I held my phone near HomePod, tapped setup and after a long wait I get the error “Set-up failed -6722”.

Tried with my iPad and got the same result.

Now what? There’s no support article explaining the message. Not a good first experience.

I was able to get it working - I had to turn off my router's firewall temporarily. I then went into the Home app on my phone and reset HomeKit. This enabled it to complete setup. I have since switched the firewall back on and HomePod is still OK.

I had the same problem for about 2 hours. I read the messages on here, but ended up on 'Chat' with apple. Long story short the guy couldn't help and was going to get his supervisor for help whilst i was trying different things in different combinations........then it worked.

Loving it now, great sound quality.

This worked for me, best of luck 🙂

ME

hi Ben

having trouble setting up HomePod with my iPhone X

Ben

Hi Gareth. I will be more than happy to assist you today and look into what needs to be done to resolve your issue! What sort of issues are you noticing?

ME

im getting -6722 error

seems quite a few people are experiencing this

Ben

I see. We can look into this case and see what needs to be done to resolve what’s going on. Where exactly are you seeing that error message?

Ben

What version of iOS is on the iPhone now? You can find this under Settings > General > About > Version.

ME

11.2.5

(15D60) if it makes a difference

Ben

On your iphone, are you signed in to iCloud with your Apple ID and turned on iCloud Keychain? You also need to have two-factor authentication set up for your Apple ID. You also want to make sure that your iPhone has Bluetooth turned on and is connected to your home Wi-Fi network.

ME

all done

Ben

Have you also tried re-setting up the Home Pod a second time and see if the same error occurs?

ME

just so we can tick boxes i have tried:

hard reboot on iPhone X (vol up/down-hold power)

ive tried it a few times

ive rebooted router/hub

Ben

And what is the Apple ID email you use? I do Not need the password.

Ben

Thanks. Please hold while I look into this for you.

Ben

No problem. I should be connected with the Senior Advisors shortly.

Ben

Connected with the advisor now. Just going over the case.

ME

ME

done.....

ME

so here what i did

ME

I deleted the HOME app...all docs and data....then re-installed from the app store

ME

when i launched it .....it was on 'setting up' for ages.....eventually at the bottom, an option to 'reconfigure all' came up. i selected that, did a reboot, and was able to access Homepod directly from the app.

Ben

OK. So everything appears to be working for you now? I can let my Senior Advisors know.

ME

set up completed

ME

Yes, thank you for your time.

Ben

I’m glad you were able to get the problem resolved! I will let my Senior Advisors know what you did to resolve the issue. Thanks.

Same exact thing happened to me while setting using both my iPhone X & iPad.

My first fail was at work, on the way home I returned my HomePod and got new one (Apple suggested it could be the unit). Got home and the same setup fail (6722) on my 2nd HomePod.

After chatting with a senior advisor and trying a bunch of options (keychain on/off, rebooting phone & iPad, beta updates, etc) I noticed my home app was stalled on my iPhone & iPad.

I deleted the app, redownloaded and hit the reconfigure option at the bottom of the Home app.

That did the trick and i got my HomePod up and running with no issue.

Apple Support was unable to troubleshoot but my sheer luck my hack took care of the issue.

Hope this helps!!

Spent an hour with Apple technical support who didn't have a clue but agreed there are a lot of frustrated people that can't get Homepods setup. In fact you can't even select Homepod to get to Apple support, while Airpod, phones, Apple TV, and other devices are listed, there is no Homepod to choose on the Apple support site. After wasting my time with stuff I'd already done (restart phone, latest IOS, reset the Homepod, turn off and on WiFi and Bluetooth) I gave up on Apple support.

To get the Homepod installed I deleted the Home App, reloaded it from the cloud, started it, forced the Home app to quit, and restarted the Home app. After being forced to quit, the Home app came back up with an option at the bottom of the app to reset configuration. Reset the Home app configuration and the Homepod setup popped up asking for which room the Homepod was in and worked. No messing with firewalls.

Got error 6722 but had no firewall. My first glitch was that I had an issue with iCloud and signed out and back in. Still couldn't get it to work. Spoke to Apple support who suggested using the Home app. Open app and add accessory. It will want product scan code but hit choice saying you don't have it. Proximity sensor will find HomePod. Got further I. Set up getting to selecting room and personal preference but it didn't add the first three times. Finally rebooted HomePod and second time I tried initializing with home app it worked and has worked fine since. In short, bery glitchy but stick with it. Good luck

OK OK OK Ok Ok OK I think i have this error code (-6722) soughted.

This is what i found out.

Ensure keychain is on each device and make sure two factoring is set up on each device YOU OWN!

Check for any updates they should come up on all the devices that need updates relating to the 2 factor and address accordingly have another device close by to add verification codes....(disclaimer :this process will **** the kids off so have bribes ready!)

I had to dig out an old Ipad because the account check was going to that ipad....annoying but necessary.

Once you have every ipad, ipad pro, iphone, mini pad iphone X and MAC on the same settings all linked all running same IOS or the latests for that device there should be NO issue connecting the device.(well error code (-6722))

After making sure I'd ticked all the boxes above I walked up to HOME POD and the setup window came up (press setup) and next thing i know its asking for its location eg Living Room.

If you get this far look for the app that looks like a HOUSE (home app) and away you go with further setup.

THIS HAS TO BE IT!...

Well it worked for me and yes grrrr....6 hours of my life i won't get back.
