Setup failed -6722

Unboxed my HomePod, powered it up and heard the chime.

I then eensured two factor authentication, iCloud Keychain and Bluetooth were enabled on my iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 11.2.5. I held my phone near HomePod, tapped setup and after a long wait I get the error “Set-up failed -6722”.

Tried with my iPad and got the same result.

Now what? There’s no support article explaining the message. Not a good first experience.

I was able to get it working - I had to turn off my router's firewall temporarily. I then went into the Home app on my phone and reset HomeKit. This enabled it to complete setup. I have since switched the firewall back on and HomePod is still OK.

Follow these instructions if you get this error code:

Open up Home app, leave it running in background

If it displays a blank screen stating ‘loading accessory and scenes’ leave app running in the background and check up on it periodically. After a while, it will prompt you to reset configurations on bottom of display.

Got error 6722 but had no firewall. My first glitch was that I had an issue with iCloud and signed out and back in. Still couldn't get it to work. Spoke to Apple support who suggested using the Home app. Open app and add accessory. It will want product scan code but hit choice saying you don't have it. Proximity sensor will find HomePod. Got further I. Set up getting to selecting room and personal preference but it didn't add the first three times. Finally rebooted HomePod and second time I tried initializing with home app it worked and has worked fine since. In short, bery glitchy but stick with it. Good luck

Same exact thing happened to me while setting using both my iPhone X & iPad.

My first fail was at work, on the way home I returned my HomePod and got new one (Apple suggested it could be the unit). Got home and the same setup fail (6722) on my 2nd HomePod.

After chatting with a senior advisor and trying a bunch of options (keychain on/off, rebooting phone & iPad, beta updates, etc) I noticed my home app was stalled on my iPhone & iPad.

I deleted the app, redownloaded and hit the reconfigure option at the bottom of the Home app.

That did the trick and i got my HomePod up and running with no issue.

Apple Support was unable to troubleshoot but my sheer luck my hack took care of the issue.

Hope this helps!!

Yeah I only singed into those older devices momentarily to test.

At some point I even signed out from iCloud on all my devices, then restored one iPhone to factory settings and signed back into iCloud. So all I had was one new clean device with my iCloud account on it.

Nothing...

Huge PITA now to signed back into everything and add back Apple Pay cards and sign into apps....
