Setup failed -6722

Unboxed my HomePod, powered it up and heard the chime.

I then eensured two factor authentication, iCloud Keychain and Bluetooth were enabled on my iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 11.2.5. I held my phone near HomePod, tapped setup and after a long wait I get the error “Set-up failed -6722”.

Tried with my iPad and got the same result.

Now what? There’s no support article explaining the message. Not a good first experience.

I was able to get it working - I had to turn off my router's firewall temporarily. I then went into the Home app on my phone and reset HomeKit. This enabled it to complete setup. I have since switched the firewall back on and HomePod is still OK.

Tried that already and it doesn’t work.

I used my girlfriends iphone and it wormed no problem. Error -5722 seems to be an iCould Keychain problem.

If I turn sign out of iCould the home app works, but sign back in and it breaks the home app again, which doesn’t allow me to set up homepod.

Apple, your iCloud infrastructure is an embarrassment. It just works alright...

Yeah I only singed into those older devices momentarily to test.

At some point I even signed out from iCloud on all my devices, then restored one iPhone to factory settings and signed back into iCloud. So all I had was one new clean device with my iCloud account on it.

Nothing...

Huge PITA now to signed back into everything and add back Apple Pay cards and sign into apps....

Out of interest is two factor authentication essential?
