27" Imac 5k lock screen is see thru!

I recently noticed my iMac lock screen does not actually secure anything as it's actually see thru at the edges. I can even read the text on the open windows below it. I did not expect this to happen on a nearly £3,000 iMac 5K..

Sometimes when watching movies i can still read the text in an open document underneath the movie.

Does this mean this expensive iMac screen is dying? Any way to fix this please? 😕

I was not referring to image persistence. Rather to the transparency of foreground to background windows. For example, the Desktop image can "bleed thru" the foreground window a large amount or small amount or no amount. The foreground window will pick up colors from the background. But that may not be what you are experiencing. I would take it in for a diagnosis just to resolve it.

This image might give a better idea. My computer has been completely off all night so it can't be 'image persistance' or ghosting. I power on.. and when the log-in screen appears I can see right through it around the entire edge of the 27" screen. I can read text and see all the tabs open in Firefox, desptop icons etc..

This has only been happening the last month.
