I do not currently have a iTunes Match subscription but would get one and a HomePod if I could upload and play my own library on the Homepod. Has anyone been able to set this up?

I used iTunes match with my HomePod it worked great but Genius functions (i.e. Hey Siri "play more like this" requires Apple Music. Since iTunes match comes with Apple Music we just switched, it was really easy.

Hi - can HomePod do shuffling, of either your entire collection or a playlist, from your iTunes Match collection? And if it can, can you tell Siri to "skip this song" if you don't like what the shuffle brought up?
Yes. Siri on HomePod will shuffle your entire iTunes Match library or it will play any selection of songs like playlists, genres or albums. Also individual songs of course.
Yes, you can say Siri Next to skip. You can also control skipping using your iOS device. Just open Control Center and force Touch the music player. It will break up into individual sources, one of which will be the HomePod. You can click Forward and Next as well as volume and scrub.
Unfortunately you can't control the specific songs or playlists using your iOS device. If you try iOS switches to Airplay and so you'd have to stay near your HomePod after that.
It's working for me. I signed up for iTunes match on Monday. My library is over 100,00 songs so I created a second library which I limited to less than that number and have synced this to the cloud. In fact it's been syncing all week and is probably going to to take another day to complete.

Yep. Works fine. I just set up my HomePod and it’s reading my iTunes Match library perfectly.
Great. Does that include music you uploaded to the cloud but not part of Apple library?
Yes. It plays all the music in my iTunes Match library whether it’s matched or uploaded.
Last question (promise). Is the HomePod streaming your matched library directly from the cloud or are you airplaying it from another device (your phone?) to the HomePod?

Not for me
Yes. You can use Siri or the Control Center to skip songs and scrub. Sadly you can’t use it to choose individual songs. If you do HomePod warns you it’s switching to BLuetooth control
You should try setting up again. My first setup I couldn’t get HomePod to add personal requests like adding to a list. Once I set up the second time it worked perfectly.
