I am using a pair of Home Pods with iTunes Match, without Apple Music, and it is working well.

Because iTunes Match has been enabled on the iPhone, that I used to set up the home pods, the iCloud music library is available on the home pods. I just have to say "Hey Siri, play my playlist ..." and Siri will start the music.

Thanks for confirming that. Having taken out Apple Music before I got the HomePods it is something I couldn't test myself. I've seen at least one user suggesting it didn't work, but perhaps they simply needed to reset everything and set up from scratch again.

For me it worked right out of the box. I had been a bit concerned about two separate AppleIDs, one for iCloud and one for iTunes Match, but that has been no problem.

I hope it will keep working.
