5s phone battery drains overnight ios 11

I updated my 5s phone to ios11. Now the battery life is measured in minutes instead of hours. I used to have to charge it a few times a week, now it is everyday or more often. I am not a heavy phone user, just a few calls and texts, and use of the camera. After following the posts about ios 11 battery issues I had the battery replaced by iCracked (since it is out of warranty and I didn't want to spend hours in an Apple store getting them to replace it).

So now even with a new battery the phone zeros out every night with no apps running. Yes, I could turn it off overnight to preserve the battery but what use is that? I use it as an alarm clock, for emergency calls, etc. I have turned off almost all notifications, background refresh, etc. all the things we have been advised to do but still the battery life *****.

So iCracked is 100% vested in making this right and has ordered a new battery at no cost to me, but what if this isn't the issue?

I downloaded Battery Life and it says my battery is fine, only 4% usage.

I am flummoxed. Is there a way to downgrade to an earlier version and remove ios 11? I am having the same problem with my ipad Air2. Haven't replaced the battery until I see what the problem is with the phone. Android is looking better and better.

Thanks for the link. I have already been through this list and have turned off almost all notifications, locations, etc. I also have nearly all apps set to “only when using.” All email has Push turned off. Phone and Messages are the only apps that are on.

If you have the original battery in your iPhone 5s, it's pretty old. I'd suggest making an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store for evaluation.

But, meanwhile, consider plugging the phone in over night. Not only will it be fully charged in the morning, but, if you've got your phone set to back up to iCloud, it will back up automatically at night as long as the phone is plugged in, connected to WiFi with the screen locked.

I had the battery replaced. And yes, I know I can plug it in every night to recharge. My question is WHY is the battery draining so drastically when the phone is idle, all apps are turned off, notifications are off, push is off, essentially the only thing on is the call and message functions. WHY does it go from 74% to 5% when it is not being used? WHY did this only start happening after I downloaded iOS 11? Maybe the cats are playing Go Fish?

It's not an OEM battery. Whenever an aftermarket battery is installed, you're just kind of hoping that it plays nice with a battery management system that's designed to work with an OEM battery.

At this point Apple certainly isn't going to install a new battery. They consider your phone to have been tampered with.

That's why you make an appointment to have your phone evaluated. I failed to notice the bit in your original post where you explain that you had your phone opened by an unauthorized repair shop. So, as noted, you're essentially out of luck.
