I'm using a Mac Pro 2013 with bluetooth turned on, connected to my wifi, and when I try to airplay from iTunes to my new HomePod it throws this error: An error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device "Bedroom". An unknown error occurred (400). I can connect to the HomePod just fine from my iPhone X. All devices are up-to-date with latest Apple software. Restarting computer doesn't solve it.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3), HomePod

Apple Support helped me solve the problem. My situation might be unique in that I have two apple ids... 1) for iCloud, and 2) Store. I did this long ago for reasons not relevant to this post. But the problem is that HomePod setup I restricted access (only to me). So it turns out I was locking myself out from my own device. Quick Solution: on your iPhone >> using the Home app >> click the arrow on the top left of the screen >> open up 'All Speaker access' and change it to "Everyone", or "Anyone on the same network". Permanent solution: (which I haven't tried yet)... but according to the Apple guy, I can restrict the access here, and then add my second apple id account in the settings.
