Yes. Anything is possible. The green status only indicates that there no issues that the Time Capsule, itself, believes exists. However, if you had disabled any of the previous "yellow" status items, those can still exist but the status light will still indicate a "green" status.
Most consumer-grade networking hardware, not just those provided by Apple, typically has a lifespan of 3-5 years. Your tagline shows that you have an 802.11ac Time Capsule, which would be the latest model version available, but not how long you had it.
We don't really know how "old" your Time Capsule might be, but in general, the average useful life of this product is about 3-4 years.
If you have the 802.11ac version of the Time Capsule....which is mentioned in your profile....this product was introduced in June 2013, so your model might be as much as 4+ years old. On the other hand, Apple still offers this product, so the Time Capsule might be only a few months old. It all depends on when you purchased the product and placed it into service.
As far as the Time Capsule malfunctioning, anything is possible, but in general the product will display a green light if it is configured and operating correctly, and a slow blinking amber light, or even a solid amber light if it is acting up.
It is possible for Time Machine on your Mac to be acting up though, in which case backups might not be occurring, even though the Time Capsule will display a green light. For example, the Time Capsule might be displaying a green light, but a message like the one that you see below might appear on your screen indicating that your backups are corrupted. This is a Time Machine problem......not a Time Capsule problem.
The bottom line.....we need more information from you, if you suspect that the Time Capsule is not operating correctly. Please provide as many details as possible.
Thank you, Bob. I purchased the Time Capsule in November, 2013. The issue was that wireless connections such as my printer and (separate) scanner both lost connectivity with my network. They seem to be restored now after I ran Disk Utility, but I still wonder when it's time to replace my Time Capsule.
Frankly speaking, a 4+ year old Time Capsule is suspect. There is no harm in continuing to use the product, but if you value the data on the Time Capsule hard drive, you might consider copying or archiving that data to a separate USB drive.....just in case.
I have no idea why Disk Utility would have anything to do with a wireless connectivity issue. If other devices like computers and iPhones were not losing their connection though, then the problem was likely with the printer and/or the scanner.
If you are saying that you lost wireless connections with all devices, or you have seen something like this occur, that might indicate that the Time Capsule power supply is on the verge of heading downhill.
Thank you again. I know I lost connectivity in these two devices - I didn't check other things. I'm going to replace the time capsule.
Once the new one is in place, may I ask how to delete the data on the current one?

On your Mac.....
Open AirPort Utility (Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility)
Click on the picture of the Time Capsule
Click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Disks tab at the top of the next window
Click Erase Disk
Choose the Zero Out Data option
Click Erase
This is a secure erase that will replace everything on the drive with zeros. It will take 3-5 hours depending on the size of the Time Capsule hard drive. The Time Capsule light will blink amber during this process, but it can still be used for wireless, etc.
