Safari youtube fullscreen glitch

Hi,

A while ago I noticed that on random youtube movies I experienced some kind of the glitch when watching in fullscreen mode. What's interesting, this glitch only activates when youtube control panel disappears. If i'm not watching on fullscreen or I'm moving the cursor all the time, screen does not experience any unpleasant interferences.

I waited for some time expecting for safari's update, but until now nothing really has cured the issue.

I'm using Safari Version 11.0.2 (13604.4.7.1.3) on Sierra version 10.13.2 (17C88).

Your support will be much appreciated.

Below I paste a link to the video picturing my problem.

Hey guys, I have just found a fix for that, I had exact same issue on ma 2017 mbp, and what's causing it's the screen scaling feature which you turn on in "my Mac> displays, you have to keep it in normal, not scaled mode -,- I have checked it at apple store, and all Macs there with that scaling mode turned on had the same issue, when you turn the scaling into "default" it only flickers like for half a sec and then plays normal, the same with all three Macs at apple store. It is a problem with graphics compatibility but it seems that all Macs with newer Sierra have that issue. cheers

You are welcome. What happened in another admin user account?

Try going to Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor and force quit the above.

Although it may not be contributing to the problem, most posters recommend not using cleaning programs. They can destroy normal computer operations.

CleanMyMac3 Uninstall

Check for associated parts and pieces using these programs.

Hi Bert_Forman,

My early 2015 model MacBook Air 13" started having the same issue today. After some perfunctory tests to recreate the issue, I find that it only seems to effect YouTube.

I tested to see if the image distortion happens in iTunes video (a movie I've downloaded) as well as on Netflix. I used Google's Chrome web browser for both of my tests.

I'll send an error report to YouTube and I'd recommend you do the same.

You can report this bug to Google (YouTube) by following the instructions listed here:

Send feedback - Computer - YouTube Help

I included the video you posted in my report to YouTube.

Hopefully it'll get corrected or at least pinpointed as either a browser or system issue.

Fingers crossed,

Hi,

I have a MBPr 15" Late 2014 and i experience the same problem.

Just to shed a bit more light to this issue:

Started a few days from now, even though no updates i can recall took place during this period.

Chrome works perfect, same videos same setup.

Safari will cause youtube glitches when all the following are met:

1. Full Screen

2. 2sec have passed no mouse movement, and youtube will autohide the upper+bottom bars

3. Automatic Graphic switching is ON ( Intel Iris Pro ). If you turn it OFF ( switches to Gefore GT 750M ) the problem is gone.

So. My understanding is, Intel Iris Pro has some kind of mis-communication with what Safari is allowing Youtube to use on fullscreen mode.

Hope i ve helped and also provided more info to Apple to resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Jio
