USB 3 drive suddenly showing as USB 2
I have a 7-port USB 3 hub into which I have connected four external USB 3 hard drives. They have all been working at high speed until today when for some reason one of them is showing up as being attached to a separate USB 2 hub, and it is transferring data noticeably more slowly than before.
Things I have tried so far:
I have swapped out the USB cable
I have swapped out the drive's power supply
I have plugged the cable into a different port on the hub
The system profiler used to show all four drives together on the one hub. Now just one drive is shown as being on a separate USB 2 hub but I have no other hub connected to the 7-port hub - nothing has changed other than the actions I listed above.
Why would a drive show up like all the other drives one day, and the next day it shows up as being plugged into some non-existent USB 2 hub? It is not an old drive - I just bought it a few days ago.
I'll try to attach a screenshot of my USB tree.
Also, I'm not sure how/why I'm limited to choosing from categories that have nothing to do with my issue, so I apologize if this is not the best category to pose this question in.
