I do not use google drive, but I do use dropbox.com. Dropbox.com works by syncing the dropbox folder on my mac with the dropbox.com server folder. Dropbox.com includes all subfolder in the dropbox folder. What I have done is move the folders I want to include in the syncing to my dropbox folder. In the orginal folder location, you need to place a reference, called a symbolic link, to the new location. You can use SymbolicLinker. SymbolicLinker is a tiny contextual menu plugin that, once installed, allows any user to create symbolic links to files inside the Finder.</p>

I have not tired this with google.drive. Should you use dropbox.com I suggest you only have one machine in the dropbox account. No syncing between machines for this setup.
