Setting up new ID after locked out of Apple ID and lost Recovery Key

I am locked out of my Apple account (password reset after too many attempts) and I lost the recovery key for 2-step verification. I know my only option is to create a new Apple ID and start over. What's the best way to do that? More specifically, is there any way to save all my photos on the phone. I know I lose my apps, music and movies with a new ID.

I know I could just wipe the phone and start fresh with the new Apple ID. I'm trying to figure how to "unassociate" my phone with the "old" Apple ID and associate it with the new Apple ID.

iOS 10.3.3

You can import your photos to your computer, if you have one.

You do not indicate that you are locked out of your phone. So, if you are not, then to import you would:

PHOTO IMPORT IOS TO MAC/PC

But, do you have your device signed into iCloud with Find My iPhone turned on? Because if you do, then you are going to need to take the device with your original sales receipt for that device, and a photo ID to your nearest Apple Store to have the Activation Lock removed. Since you cannot sign into your old Apple ID, you have no way to turn it off.

To turn it off yourself, you would need to know the passcode to the Apple ID. And trying to erase the device would land you in the same place, with a request to enter the passcode to that Apple ID to turn off Find My iPhone.

So, I would recommend that you Import your photos to a computer, if you can, then take the device to Apple with the documentation indicated above, and have the Activation Lock removed, then Erase the device so you can set it up as a new device with your new Apple ID.

Once you have done that, you will be able to sync back any of the photos you want to have on your device by syncing via iTunes: Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes on your computer using USB - Apple Support

Best of luck,

Forget Passcode or Restore Device

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple

How to erase your iOS device & then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

If the above doesnt work for you, then:

Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and leave

one end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.

2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds

until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.

* If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the

Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,

release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the

device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,

let the device charge for at least ten minutes, and then start with step 2 again.

4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.

When this screen appears you can release the Home button:

5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:

6. Use iTunes to restore the device.

If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
