mini dv from unsupported camera (sony dcr-trv70) to quicktime movie

I have a 2005 Sony camera on which I've shot many hours on mini dvs. Until recently I've been able to make Quicktime movies to upload to Final Cut Pro to edit, no problem. The recent upgrade to High Sierra 10.13.3 has blocked all access from my camera (through either USB or Firewire ports) to either Final Cut or Quicktime. Tech support reps suggest I contact Sony support for software that would make my older camera compatible. Sony has no such software. Any suggestions? It appears I've now been upgraded to oblivion.
