Freeze when Lid Open Dual monitor

MBP Pro 15-inch, 2016 w Touch Bar
High Sierra 10.13.3
Intel Core I7, 16 GB Ram
Radeon Pro 450 2 GB

Hello everyone, I am facing an issue on my MBP when I use a dual monitor setup.

I use a 24'' QHD Monitor as a Main Monitor. Consequently, I keep the lid of my MBP closed most of the times.

Although, when I need to work, I usually open the lid of the laptop and use both displays in order to gain more space (obviously). Well, when I do that, it happens (not always, but often) that the Mac Freezes completely and I need to force a reboot. The two monitors shut down, the touch bar is still visible but not interactable.

I'm desperate, what could it be?

Hello everyone, after such a long time of testing I can confirm installing a fresh copy of the OS solved my issue. No problems so far.

Thank you for your answer but opening a lid is not really that complex to do.

Apple is known for its simple and easy user experience. Closing or opening a lid is something that everyone could do, easily, even a child. Freezing an entire Operating System just because I opened a lid is not acceptable for a 2K+ laptop and, since my warranty is still valid, I'll talk to apple about that, after a few extra days of testing.

This is an issue that must be solved by Apple.

Tested for a day, not even one freeze. Although, since it occured randomly, I am not sure the issue can be considered solved.

I'll let you know tomorrow after another complete day of testing.

NB: The warnings mentioned in my previous post are present even in the latest MBP 2017, with a fresh installation, so we can be sure saying it's not related to our model.

Forgot to mention what kind of Software I use, since you asked.

Mainly I use WindowManager to easily move across displays and pin windows to the corners.

Then Adobe Suite, Dev SWs like XCode, Android Studio or Unity. GDrive to backup stuff online, that's it.

I can, can you explain how to log the errors? Where do I need to search? If it's in Console App can you tell me precisely where?

Second day of testing. No problems until now. No freezes at all when switching from Clamshell to Extended Desktop Mode.

I'll keep you updated with another message tomorrow.

That's quite interesting... but..., for some reason i also can't reproduce the problem. I didn't reinstall OS....

Third day of testing. Everything worked today pretty well, no freezes.

Therefore, I will only report if things get bad again.
