My Mac won't recognize My Fujifilm x-T2

I am running High Sierra on a 27" iMac, current model. When I plug my Fuji X-T2 camera in, the camera itself shows the USB symbol, but there is no trace of the camera/disc/SD Cards in the Finder. I've tried looking for it in Image Capture, Photos, Aperture, Lightroom- none show the disc. I have downloaded Fujifilm X acquire and it does nothing. Doesn't matter if I have JPEG only RAW + JPEG, etc. Interestingly, I successfully installed Fuji's PC Auto Save, so I can transfer the photos over my WiFi to either my iMac or my iPad. The compressed RAW will open in Lightroom, JPEG in either LR or Aperture. So while not desperate I'm disappointed

I'd rather use the USB to transfer large numbers of pics, as it is faster. Am I missing something? Apple says that the camera is supported. Alternatively, should I just go out and buy a USB card reader and hope that the SD card will be there?

iMac, iOS 10.13.1
