What happened to the ".COM" key on the IOS keyboard???

Hello,

On the original I-Pad when it came out, there was a ".COM" key on the IOS keyboard. I since upgraded to the I-Pad Air 2 last year. I believe it came with IOS Version 9. However, I cannot find the ".COM" key on the keyboard. I tried searching on Google to see if that key was removed but found no information at all. Now this morning, I don't know what happened but I swear I saw the ".COM" key on my keyboard. However, now I don't see it anymore again. I must have done something to see it. Can someone lend some support on this?

Thanks Mark for your response. However, in my case, I am sure the keyboard change is inherent to Apple. If I use my old I-Pad, I see the .COM key. If I use my new I-Pad and I do exactly the same things and go to the same applications, I don't see the .COM key. An example of this would be going to the Google site and invoking the keyboard by initiating a search.

After more research, I did find that you can select the .COM option on the keyboard by holding down the “period” key.

But I still swear I saw the .COM as a separate key yesterday.

An app can invoke any of several keyboards, including some that are unique to one company's app(s). Some app developers include a special keyboard for web or email addresses; a ".com" key is common to those special keyboards. Some app developers stick to the basic keyboard, which does not include a ".com" key.

OK, so some developers change how their programs work (when they use special keyboards) from time to time or in various circumstances. Is your old iPad using exactly the same operating system level and app versions as your new one?

Interesting tidbit about .COM being an option on the "." key. I've never noticed that offered.

Markwmsn - My I-Pads are very different. The old one was the first generation and IOS stopped updating after version 5. My new I-Pad Air 2 is running IOS version 11 although I noticed the missing .COM key once I got the new one with version 9. I'm hoping that I was not mistaken when I thought I saw the key yesterday. Now I'm trying my best to find it.
