Service support in abroad

I bought a new IphoneX in NYC just few weeks ago. Than I moved to Russia and my screen is stretched in Moscow. Authorized Apple Services didn't change my screen bcuz my model is A1865 and they don't have it in Russia. What should I do? I don't want to use my new phone with stretched screen.

All you can do is to send it back to the USA, preferably the store you bought it from. You may need a reliable contact in the city because I understand that Apple do not ship items to other countries and anything done will have to be via the stand in (friend).

I'm not sure what can be done so ideally you should check with this store what they can offer to help. And if they can help, what procedure should you follow. Apple in Moscow cannot resolve this for you.

If you have white lines showing on the screen it is probably not the screen that is the issue, it is the graphics chip on the logic board. As it has to have country specific review by regulatory agencies the parts are region specific. You will either have to return to the US to have it repaired or send it to someone in the US who can take it in for you. This also applies to iPads with cellular service.

The way I'm reading this, you're wrong, no offense. As I said before Apple ships phones corresponding to the region it will be sold in. The model number determines this. They might be the same inside and out, and the same features, but for warranty service, they will look at the model number (Settings/General/About). In this case, as far as the warranty is concerned, Apple Russia will not touch a phone that has been bought in the States.

Am I wrong? No disrespect. Obviously.

That's your opinion. It's neither right nor wrong. However, Apple doesn't order repair parts internationally for products that aren't sold in a particular country. Other Apple products (other than iPhones and cellular iPads) have an international warranty and aren't necessarily country specific (save maybe keyboards). The iPhone and cellular iPads are configured individually for each country's regulatory requirements. The iPhone is also a product where Apple is very much opposed to gray marketing, because it might affect their ability to do business in individual countries.

I haven't heard of any other mobile phones that carry any kind of international warranty or factory authorized service/support outside of the country of purchase. At least with an iPhone, Apple or an AASP may repair broken glass or install a new battery, but they can't order parts that aren't in products in the local market.

Dear Brian, I know about the warranty. I am ready to pay the cost. But the problem is they don't change my screen in the AASP in Moscow. They say I need to go back to USA to get it repaired.

My parents have given a iPhone as a gift to someone overseas. I don't know if they quite understood that the warranty and service policy doesn't transfer, but over there I wouldn't be surprised if the recipient simply got aftermarket glass repairs or batteries given how cheap it is there (mostly because labor is cheap there).

The problem is not to be wrong or right, we just face fact, sorry. I would suggest to send Apple a feedback (http://apple.com/feedback/ ... as far as I know they really take care of the opinion of the customers.) about your experience and how to improve. As you know, being a community of users we can't help/support you on this topic 😟

LTE components of the phone can be understandable. But I am talking about the stretched screen. You can stretch it in Canada or Mexico or China. Even if the service in one country does not have a certain part of the phone, it can be shipped. With global brands, it works in this way. Am I wrong?

Apple has worldwide service/support for all products except the iPhone. That’s just their policy with the iPhone.

Also, what do you mean by “stretched”. I’m not sure what that means.

While Apple is a global brand, they do manufacture phones for specific areas of the world. The phone they do buy should work in whatever country they will be traveling to, but as far as LTE is concerned, that might be an issue. Every phone can connect to a 3G network if this is the case making the phone usable.

Every phone that is manufactured and shipped is made for a specific region in the world.

I bought my phone in Canada (at an Apple Store), and live in Canada. My phone will work on LTE networks in Canada, the States and Mexico. Outside of that I have no idea, but at least I can get some sort of service even if it's H+ for the Internet (3G on the iPhone). Both my iPhones (6S Plus, 128GB version and an 8 Plus, 256GB version) were bought in Canada at an Apple store in Toronto.

You regulars can correct me if I'm wrong.
