Homepod audio out of sync with video over airplay

Sometimes when I try to watch netflix (or any other video content for that matter) on my computer and use the homepod the audio will be out of sync.

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

When I clicked on the play button on a YouTube video on Safari, the video will start playing but no audio will come from the HomePod mini until 1-2 seconds later. AppleTV will not stream audio to HomePod Reset both devices, ensured HomePod and AppleTV on same WiFi network, all devices are updated to latest software as of when this post has been posted. I watch Amazon Prime video through the App on my AppleTV 4k. Some days the option to have audio from AppleTV forwarded to HomePod is available, and some days not. Very finicky, and searching on the internet I found that I am not the only one with this issue. Anyone find a fix? According to searches on the internet, this is a common on-going issue for at least 180 days, with no fix to be found.

HomePod cuts in and out Newly acquired HomePod mini is receiving airplay from iTunes on an iMac. Periodically cuts out then cuts back in again. Airplay continues uninterrupted on 2 airport express devices, as on the source iMac. New to Apple ecosystem so not sure where to start investigation. ‘Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

This seems to be expected behavior at present. Hopefully AirPlay 2 will address this when it comes out, which should be relatively soon by all accounts.
