Icloud drive settings on Mac Mini

Hi everybody.

I've made a test by flagging the "documents and desktop" box in the icloud option section in system preferences.

I un-flagged soon after, but every time I put on the Mac, in finder I see nothing in the documents file, meanwhile the MAC is uploading stuff to icloud, where I see all the content of the documents file. Is there a way to stop the process and recover al the files in the local memory? Sorry for my english. Thanks
